Last Saturday, Hyper Island was stationed at Blast Radius Amsterdam for a new recruitment day. Four brave souls attended and challenged themselves in the various task they had to do: an individual and group creative task, and English test and the commonly feared interview. As a sign of support, several Hyper Island students came by, including some that had an internship going in Amsterdam, and some that came all the way from Stockholm (like me).
The four potential Hyper Island students all had the right stuff: the will to learn by doing, the motivation to be a good team member and the pinch of leadership that was dying to get more attention.
The fun part came when the staff tried to explain the methodology and process used at Hyper Island. The four applicants looked a bit confused, knowing it theoretically all made sense, but wondering how this would look in practice. But of course, no one could explain how unique the Hyper Island experience is. Only when you are here, you know what it’s all about. That’s the beauty of the whole Hyper Island mystery.
And now comes the waiting period. All applicants will get an answer within a few weeks. I sincerely hope some, if not all, get accepted. Hyper Island is in need of some more influence from ‘de Lage Landen’.
Cheers / Cas

I’m back in Stockholm after a great weekend with Hyper Island in London. After the island2island exhibition on friday being a great success with over 200 visitors the saturday was filled with meeting applicants for next years course. I can’t tell much about the process itself as it’s best left to surprise when people apply – Hyper Island wants applicants to be rather unprepared. Thanks for W+K for hosting this event and thanks to Hyper Island for letting me be a part of it. Going through the application process from the other side was quite an insightful experience.

Hyper Island Stockholm is going through some busy days at the moment:
The Interactive Art Direction class is working on a new identity for the Swedish Armed Forces while finishing up their portfolio, working on the promotion site of the class, and applying for internships at the world’s most famous agencies. There is hardly time to do anything else, yet I’m looking forward to taking a break from this busy yet motivating environment to help out with the recruitment day in Amsterdam. This Saturday part of the Hyper Island staff and students will be stationed at Blast Radius in Amsterdam to recruit new students for next school year.
I will be there, informing the applicants on what the great mystery behind Hyper Island actually is, and tell them about the projects we do, the group dynamics we learn, the lectures we get and the atmosphere around our school.
If you’d like to be a part of this event, don’t hesitate to sign up and attend our recruitment day in Amsterdam. I’ll be happy to meet you all.
See you this Saturday! (January 30 at 10 am)

London, I’ve been missing thee. It’s been six months since I left this big city in exchange for the snowed in suburbs of Stockholm for one single reason – Hyper Island. It’s been nothing but great so far and I clearly remember my own recruitment day, the mysteriousness, the excitement and all the fantastic people. Now I’ve been incredibly lucky to be part of another recruitment day – but this time on the other side. I’m curious about meeting the future talent of Hyper Island, if there are any specific questions I can prepare for please let me know.
